Job summary

LCMC Health's West Jefferson Medical Center in Louisiana seeks a compassionate Recovery Room Nurse (PACU) to monitor patients as they emerge from anesthesia, tracking breathing, pain, vital signs, and surgical sites to ensure stable progression.

You will educate patients and families on post-operative care, perform required documentation and assessments, and collaborate closely with the surgical team to meet overall patient needs and safe throughput.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
• BSN is preferred.
• 1 year in a related clinical area preferred.
• Certified Critical Care Nurse or Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organize, prioritize, and coordinate postoperative patient care.
• Educate patients and families on home care after discharge.
• Perform required clinical documentation and postoperative assessments.
• Monitor patients after surgery for pain, complications and infection.
• Monitor and intervene for postoperative complications.
• Perform CPR or other emergency measures if required.
• Collaborate with the surgery team to identify and meet patient care needs.
• Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
• Ensure continuity of care and efficient throughput.
