Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Madison, WI seeks highly qualified physician for primary care within VA health system. The incumbent will manage outpatient care, perform histories, physical exams, and coordinate treatment plans for veterans under VA guidelines.

Responsibilities include documenting findings in the EHR, prescribing medications, ordering labs and imaging, and mentoring residents as needed. A DEA license and board eligibility/certification are preferred; travel not required.

Qualifications

• US citizenship (where required by VA policy)
• MD degree from an approved school
• Current full and unrestricted medical license
• Residency training in an approved core specialty
• Board certification or eligibility in internal medicine or family medicine preferred
• TB testing and immunization evaluations required
• Designated drug testing position

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care for a panel of outpatients in the clinic setting.
• Perform histories and physical examinations and document findings.
• Provide appropriate documentation including history, physical exam findings, diagnosis, and plan.
• Prescribe medications and order routine labs/imaging as needed.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests; communicate results to patients.
• Precept residents and provide education to patients and family.
• Ensure smooth clinic operations and appropriate patient disposition
