Job description

PACS Administrator II

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Coachella Valley, CA (Onsite — 4 days/week)

We’re partnering with a leading not-for-profit health system in the Coachella Valley to hire a PACS Administrator II for their Enterprise Imaging team, a small, tight-knit group that keeps radiology and cardiology imaging systems running across the organization. The health system moved to a cloud-based Philips PACS platform within the last year, and this team sits at the center of an environment that’s changing fast: AI-driven imaging tools, evolving reimbursement rules, and a growing equipment footprint all flow through PACS.

The role is a mix of day-to-day support and project work: fielding requests and vendor tickets from radiologists and departments, plus taking on projects as the imaging environment continues to modernize.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a key point of contact for PACS/RIS and Cardiology PACS (CPACS), troubleshooting, configuring, and supporting radiologists, technologists, and clinical staff day-to-day.
  • Plan and engineer connectivity between imaging modalities (including newly added equipment) and the PACS/CPACS environment, making sure studies route, communicate, and result correctly.
  • Partner directly with radiologists on hanging protocols, dictation profiles, voice recognition tools, and the AI-driven imaging tools increasingly built into their workflow.
  • Contribute to and grow into leading PACS/RIS projects, recent examples include rolling out a new AI tool that automatically flags a specific condition at the point of image read, and connecting new equipment as the organization expands.
  • Proactively identify and resolve interface errors between Radiology/Cardiology systems and PACS, using root cause analysis to cut down on recurring issues.
  • Maintain PACS documentation and mentor junior team members on documentation standards.
  • Participate in the RIS/PACS on-call rotation.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a healthcare-related field, or four (4) additional years of applicable experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) years of combined healthcare and technology experience, or nine (9) years of relevant combined experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • One relevant IT certification (DICOM, Radiant, Cupid, or related) or healthcare certification/license (RT, RN, AART, or related) — a technology background that grew into imaging, and a clinical background (rad tech, X-ray, MRI, CT, echo, EKG) that moved into the technology side, are both a fit.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment — this is one of the organization’s most AI-forward, high-volume, and business-critical technology areas.
  • Willing to work onsite 4 days/week. This is not a hybrid role; remote flexibility is earned over time as part of the team’s existing rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PACS or cardiology PACS experience, ideally with Philips.
  • Experience with a DICOM router (e.g., Laurel Bridge).
  • Small-project or project-leadership experience — PACS admins here are expected to help drive their own projects, not just execute someone else’s plan.
  • A second technology or clinical certification (e.g., Imaging Informatics Professional, or an additional IT or clinical credential).
  • Experience with modality integration, interface troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

Success in this role is about temperament more than any single certification. This team thrives on variety and constant change, and the stakeholder group, radiologists, cardiologists, and clinical staff, has its own distinct culture to work within. Someone who needs a highly structured, predictable day, or who bristles at frequent change, historically hasn’t been a fit here. We’re looking for someone with customer-service instincts, the right technical or clinical foundation, and real enthusiasm for where imaging technology is headed.
