Job summary

Holly Poultry in Hanover, MD, is hiring a Packer – Pack Out Associate to safely package Line products in a fast-paced facility. You will operate the triple bagger, seal and label bags, pack boxes, and maintain clean, safe work areas while following GMPs, SOPs, and food safety standards.

Requirements include at least 1 year of manufacturing experience, ability to stand for long periods, attention to detail, teamwork, and ability to pass pre-employment screening.

We are currently hiring a Packer – Pack Out Associate

Primary Function

The Packer – Pack Out is responsible for safely and efficiently packaging saw line products according to established production, quality, and food safety standards. This position works as part of the Pack Out production team in a fast-paced environment and is responsible for maintaining accurate product flow, proper packaging, labeling, and product handling throughout the line.

Responsibilities:

• Shovels chicken product into the triple bagger and ensures the appropriate amount of product is being fed into the machine.
• Operates and monitors the triple bagger and related packaging equipment as directed.
• Seals and fills bags according to product specifications and established procedures.
• Packs finished product into boxes correctly and securely.
• Moves completed boxes down the production line and ensures product continues to flow efficiently.
• Ensures product is packaged, weighed, labeled, and handled according to established specifications.
• Performs visual quality checks to identify damaged packaging, incorrect labels, or product that does not meet specifications.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
• Follows all Holly Poultry Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), food safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Follows all safety procedures and uses required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Reports equipment problems, product quality concerns, safety hazards, or other issues to the supervisor promptly.
• Handles product and packaging materials safely and efficiently.
• Works cooperatively with other Pack Out employees and departments to maintain smooth production flow.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Key Working Relationships

• Reports to the Pack Out Line Supervisor and works under general supervision.
• Works closely with other Pack Out team members to maintain efficient product flow.
• Works with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, Inventory Control, and other departments as needed.
• Supports and demonstrates the values, philosophy, and mission of Holly Poultry.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience, food service is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain attention to detail while performing repetitive production tasks.
• Ability to follow food safety, GMP, SOP, and workplace safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Previous food processing or production experience is helpful but not required.
• Candidate must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug and background screening.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to work in a fast-paced poultry processing and production environment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
• Requires frequent repetitive movements involving the hands, arms, and upper body.
• Ability to lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to shovel and handle chicken product throughout the production process.
• Ability to work around production machinery, noise, cold or wet conditions, and other conditions common to a poultry processing facility.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing job duties.
• Work is performed in and around industrial machinery, production equipment, warehouse areas, and processing environments.
• Exposure to refrigerated and cold-storage areas. Bays may be maintained at approximately 32°F or below, with certain areas maintained at temperatures below 0°F.
• Position requires the ability to tolerate exposure to cold temperatures for periods while performing required job duties on the plant floor.
• Work environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, moisture, odors, wet surfaces, and other conditions commonly associated with food manufacturing and processing operations.
