Job summary

The Hershey Company in Plymouth, IN is seeking team members for packaging and line support. You will visually inspect filling processes, manually pack bags, and stack finished product while following GMP guidelines.

This role involves standing, lifting, and operating packing equipment on 12-hour shifts. Starting pay is $20.28 per hour with a $1 differential for overnight shifts, bi-weekly pay, and a benefits package including health insurance, a 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect the filling process and pack bags.
• Set up scales for bag weights and ensure accurate weights.

• Operate pallet jacks to move product and boxes.

Pay

• Starting at $20.28/hr, overnight shift has $1.00/hr shift differential
• Bi-weekly pay

Shifts

• Day or Night shifts available
• 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm OR 6pm-6am)
• Plant operates on various schedules (schedule assignment determined by candidate preference and plant needs):
• 2-2-3 schedule: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotation.Working 3-4 days/week (One week: Sun, Wed, ThursNext week:Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat).

Job Summary

Responsible for visually inspecting, monitoring the filling process, manually packing, and stacking finished product, and completing sanitation activities

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintainthe 5’s and GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
• Visually inspect and manually pack bags of product into boxes
• Recognize and report product quality issues
• Set up scales for bag, bulk, and/or tote weights
• Weigh one bag per case
• Understand the information on the lead label
• Pallet stack as needed
• Pour on rework
• Fill out all paperwork completely, accurately, and timely (including first case verifications, daily 5S paperwork, changeover/sanitation paperwork, etc.)
• Cover bulk lines and recognize and report bad product
• Clean and organize the packing area using approved chemicals and PPE as applicable
• Perform shut down, start up, and changeover procedures
• Rework product as needed
• Use pallet jacks

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
• 1-month experience or training in related field
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively present information to other employees.
• Basic math skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Frequently required to stand and walk.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
