The City of Saginaw is seeking a Packer Truck Operator to collect yard waste, recyclables and other materials, and to operate heavy equipment for seasonal tasks such as street sweeping, snow removal, and salting icy roads.
The role includes varied shifts, overtime on scheduled workdays, weekends, holidays, and in emergencies. A valid Michigan CDL Class B with airbrakes is required, along with a high school diploma or GED and experience in outdoor physical labor.

This work requires the constant exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling, lifting, and repetitive motion; frequent sitting and occasionally climbing or balancing, pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to recognize information at normal spoken work levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make find distinctions in sound; work requires, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surrounding and activities; work is regularly performed near moving mechanical parts, exposure fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, vibrations and occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and bloodborne pathogens; work is generally performed in a very loud noisy location (e.g. jackhammer work, garbage recycle plant).
