The City of Saginaw is seeking a dependable manual laborer to support maintenance of streets and water/sewer systems. Under supervision, you will operate hand tools, assist skilled staff, and help keep work sites safe and clean for residents.
Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a valid Michigan driver’s license. Open to SEIU hourly members and the public; there will be a performance test and interview as part of the selection process.

Under immediate supervision this position performs a variety of manual labor tasks to support the maintenance and service operations in the construction, maintenance, and repair of City streets, and water and sewer systems. Operates hand tools and basic equipment, assists skilled and semi-skilled staff, and ensures safe and clean work sites for the benefit of City residents.

Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Michigan driver’s license
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, snow, and ice. Regular exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, noise, working near moving mechanical part, and vibration. Typical noise level is very loud (e.g. jack hammer work, garbage recycle, plant), near traffic and in potentially hazardous environments depending on assignment. This position may work varied shifts and must be available to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and regular workdays as needed. This includes responding to emergency situations that require attention outside of standard working hours.
