Job summary

Amcor is seeking a production packing associate at our Louisiana facility. The role focuses on safely packing quality products, adhering to GMP and ISO standards, and performing required quality checks along packaging lines.

Candidates should be able to read traveler/BOM, operate pallet jacks, and maintain clean, organized work areas. This on-site position requires basic PC skills and a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience in a team-work oriented environment is a plus.
  • Basic reading of traveler/BOM and applying quality checks.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and support all safety, GMP and ISO policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies.
  • Perform required quality checks and understand quality standards.
  • Read Traveler – BOM and check special instructions.
  • Must pass electric pallet jack certification.
  • Work on packing lines and related equipment.
  • Operate packaging lines and assist in line changeovers.

Major Responsibilities

To safely pack a quality productive product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Follow and support all Company safety, GMP and ISO policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies.
  • Perform required quality checks and understand the quality standards.
    • Quality of the product.
    • Insure the correct boxes are used.
    • Insure correct labels are being applied to the boxes.
    • Insure correct amount of product is placed in the boxes.
    • Insure correct product is placed in the boxes.
    • Reports bad quality product to Section Lead.
  • Maintain good housekeeping.
  • Reads “Traveler” – Bill of Materials (BOM)
    • Checks special instructions.
  • Must pass electric pallet jack certification.
  • Work on lines, LD 98 & 9, AG Line & Fume Line
  • Work in the Packing area, lines LD 3, 4 & 12, lines HD 12 & 21.

Packing Area

  • Set up tapers and change tape rolls.
  • Set up and trouble shoot box erectors.
  • Set up label applicator
  • Safe operation of bin lift
  • Safe handling of the bin gates.
  • Know pallet stacking formations for all orders.

In Line Packer

  • Safely pulling of plastic and picking up scrap.
  • Help string up downstream equipment.
  • Know pallet stacking formation for all orders.
  • Safe handling of hand taper and replacing the tape roll.
  • Manual box making.
  • Operates winders
  • Uses a J-Knife safely to cut and tuck product.

Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED, preferred.
  • Experience in a team-work oriented environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of extrusion/converting equipment and process desired.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use and read a ruler.
  • Ability to read and understand a traveler.
  • Ability to document quality and weight on bag check sheets.
  • Language skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals and checklists.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram or schedule form.
  • Basic PC knowledge.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work around moving machinery or electricity requiring a high level of safety awareness. Employee is required to work around moving equipment, forklifts and must be able to wear appropriate PPE. Employee may reach, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend or twist up to 66% of the work shift.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often subjected to changing priorities, time pressures and constraints, and a high level of job related stress. Work is performed in manufacturing operations where the noise level in the work environment is typically loud. Employees are required to use steel toed shoes, hearing and eye protection. Other PPE may be required when working around moving machinery.
