Responsibilities

  • Inspect the products produced by the machine, identifying defects or discrepancies so the operator can adjust the machine.
  • Discard or reject products made from materials that do not meet specifications.
  • Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
  • Discuss inspection results with the operator and/or quality control to determine the necessary course of action, if necessary.
  • Follow the packaging specifications for the product and respond quickly if the packaging specifications change in the assigned manufacturing process.
  • Follow all HACCP and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
  • Follow environmental and safety regulations and act in compliance with US laws.
  • Cleanliness and order in and around the machine are the responsibility of the packers under the GMP guidelines; use and complete the machine verification sheet when necessary to ensure these GMPs.
  • Ensure the correct labels are used for the correct product in consecutive order to ensure proper accountability and traceability.
  • Assist the operator in completing production reports accurately and timely to record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, and quantities inspected/sorted.
  • Follow the operator's guidelines regarding machine performance to achieve maximum proficiency.
  • Be attentive to learning and observe how the machine works to enable it to be used at higher capacities.
  • Inspection packers must be able to move between different box-making machines, load skids, and support all activities requested by operators.
  • Rotate with other packers during breaks.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Therefore, whenever necessary and when the machine is shut down, the machine verification sheet will be followed and completed to ensure these GMPs.
