Job summary

Job Purpose

The Packer is responsible for producing high quality powder products in the powder packaging department by following specifications listed in the work order.

Essential Duties
  • Handle the startup and shut down of the line and various equipment in the packaging line.
  • Read and understand the work order and specifications to ensure correct components are used for production.
  • Follow all SOPs and cGMP requirements.
  • Load and unload components to various equipment in the packaging line.
  • Assist in changeovers, washing and sanitization of production lines.
  • Learn the various equipment in the line to ensure proper use.
  • Participate in all applicable safety and food safety training and wear proper personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Palletize finished product
  • Spot check product to ensure that it has proper labels, presentable packaging, proper master case label with relevant information.
  • Maintain a clean workspace by assisting in housekeeping duties to minimize food safety risks.
  • Able to lift 30 pounds repeatedly, 50 pounds frequently and 75 + pounds with assistance, daily.
  • Use material handling equipment such as electric pallet jacks.
  • Willing to work overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education:
  • High school diploma /GED or equivalent work experience is preferred.
Experience:
  • Prioritization and time management skills
  • Working quickly without compromising quality
  • In a food facility or facility that follows cGMP practices is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the cGMP
  • Ability to communicate thoroughly with peers and management.
