Job summary

Alphia in Pittsburg, CA is seeking a detail-oriented Packaging Operator to maintain quality and operate packaging lines. You will label, stack, and package products, perform QA checks, and ensure compliance with GMP and HACCP standards.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must adhere to GMPs and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Package products in bags, boxes, or bulk containers; label and stack on pallets.
• Stack bags of product weighing up to 50# from waist to shoulder height onto pallets.
• Maintain product and packaging quality through visual inspections of finished product.
• Ensure bags, wraps, seals, boxes, and pallets meet quality standards.
• Participate in full facility equipment clean-up between runs as directed.
• Maintain FIFO program.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot packaging equipment (Bemis 1 & 2, Parsons, Jem lines, palletizers, forklifts, stretch wrappers, scales, metal detectors, belts, control panels, labelers, coders, case erectors, trash compactors).
• Perform QA duties and enter data into IQS; monitor HACCP compliance in-process.
• Assist with product changeovers, cleaning, and sanitation; inspect before start-up.
• Collect finished product samples for release testing; perform metal detector and magnet verifications.
• Communicate quality concerns to Packaging Lead or Supervisor; participate in 1st article inspections.
• Complete required paperwork, including simple production reports.
• Proficiency in Alphia Business Systems (JDE, IQS, etc.).
• Anticipate technical problems, troubleshoot, and coordinate with Maintenance.
• Perform operator-level preventive maintenance; suggest line improvements.
• Provide technical training and cross-training to plant personnel and new hires.
