POSITION: Packaging Technician I
LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH
REPORTS TO: Packaging Lead
SHIFTS: Mon-Fri, 7AM-3PM and 6AM-2PM (rotating schedules)
COMPENSATION RANGE: $16.00 – $18.98

POSITION SUMMARY: The Packaging Technician I works within the Production Department with responsibility for safely and efficiently operating packaging equipment and supporting packaging operations. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors – Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate canning line equipment including setup, managing supplies, stocking, pulling finished product off the line, basic troubleshooting, palletizing, cleaning, and sanitizing.
  • Operate keg filling machine including cleaning, sanitizing, and filling kegs, palletizing and storing full kegs, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Conduct proper sanitation duties involving complete cleaning of all equipment within the facility using foaming equipment, hoses, brooms, shovels, brushes, scrapers, squeegees, and chemicals (caustic, acid, and detergents).
  • Conduct basic equipment and product changeovers following established procedures.
  • Stock and organize the cooler, as well as other general organization, movement, and handling of supplies, materials, and products.
  • Accurately and completely follow all packaging Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Identify and report operational and quality control issues to the Packaging Lead and/or Head Brewer.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including cross-training initiatives and supporting other production areas.
  • Enthusiastically spends a minimum of 16 hours per year volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

  • 1-2 years of professional packaging, manufacturing, or production experience preferred but not required.

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in the use of packaging equipment, such as: canning line components, keg filling equipment, conveyor systems, palletizing equipment, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and powered industrial trucks.
  • Maintains focus and productivity in a dynamic and demanding environment under direct supervision.
  • Attention to detail, ability to follow detailed instructions while maintaining safety and quality standards, and confidence to speak up and act when safety and/or quality are compromised.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks and maintaining efficiency and productivity.
  • Team-first mentality to achieve organizational objectives and partners with others to get work done.
  • Self-motivated, clean, thorough, and passionate about producing world-class products.
  • Effective communication with manager and support staff, regardless of department or shift.

  • Basic proficiency in computer systems and automated equipment operation.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklift, scissor lifts, electric power jack, and other powered industrial trucks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
  • Ability to stand for up to 6 hours or more.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally maneuver, push/slide, rotate and move up to 170 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
