Job summary

Ferrara is seeking a Packaging Supervisor in Forest Park, IL, to lead hourly production and warehouse teams on a 4pm-4am 4-3 schedule. You will ensure adherence to FDA guidelines, GMPs, HACCP/SQF, and production plans while coordinating cross-functional activities to meet quality and safety standards.

You will mentor staff, drive continuous improvement, manage labor reconciliation, and support Lean initiatives to optimize operations and food safety across the shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience in manufacturing or related field.
• Experience supervising hourly staff in production or packaging environments.
• Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and FDA guidelines.
• Experience using SAP for production planning and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise execution of production and logistics plans through operators and warehouse staff.
• Support development and implementation of plans to ensure compliance across responsibilities.
• Operate production lines per GMP, HACCP, and FDA guidelines.
• Direct and guide shift activities in production and/or logistics (receiving, processing, packaging, shipping).
• Manage shift change and communicate daily production standards and labor reconciliation.
• Develop employees to ensure compliance and maintain quality.
• Resolve issues impacting performance and safety.
• Support Lean training as directed by Operations Manager.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and food safety, including allergen control and pest management.
• Participate in daily food reviews and project execution as needed.

Due to the highly interactive nature of this manufacturing position, in-person attendance and flexibility are essential for supporting production schedules, effective communication and collaboration, real-time problem solving, and participation in cross-functional initiatives. Schedules may vary and are subject to change.

Core Hours are 4pm-4am on a 4-3 schedule.

The Packaging Supervisor, reporting to the Packaging Manager, is responsible for supervising hourly employees and executing production and logistics plans. The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for overall operations of the assigned shift, including warehouse, labor relations, production, site security, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Ways you will make a difference

• Supervise the execution of production and logistics plans through operators and other hourly labor in production and warehouse functions
• Participate in the development and implementation of plans and policies to ensure compliance in all areas of responsibility
• Operate production lines in accordance with FDA guidelines, GMPs, and HACCP/SQF program guidelines
• Direct and guide operators and their activities in execution of production and/or logistics plans (receiving, processing, mixing, baking, packaging, shipping, etc)
• Responsible for shift change management and communication as well as daily production standards and labor reconciliation
• Develop employees to ensure compliance and achieve quality
• Resolve problems and mitigate operational issues that result in negative performance
• Support Lean Training as directed by Operations Manager
• Owns regulatory compliance and food safety process, including: proper sanitary condition, allergen control, pest control, food safety policy, employee safety policies and procedures, and maintaining MCRS sustainability standards
• Participate in daily food review
• Support and execute relevant projects as needed

Experiences that will support your success

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred
• Minimum 2 years experience
• Previous manufacturing experience
• Experience working with SAP
• Understanding of GMP principles
• Process, packing, and mechanical experience strongly preferred
• Experience managing people, with ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization
• Maintain expectations for creating high quality and food safe products through compliance with regulatory requirements and by upholding a strong quality culture.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $80,325 to $112,455 annually.
