Job summary

RRD is a leading global provider of marketing, packaging, print, and supply chain solutions. This role leads the design phase, translating objectives into visual packaging concepts and prototypes while meeting manufacturing criteria and customer expectations.

You will design packaging communications, prepare high-resolution digital art, and coordinate with outside agencies and printers to bring concepts to production, while mentoring junior teammates as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions.
• Organize resources and incorporate new information to implement effective solutions.
• Communicate clearly with stakeholders about decisions/actions/problems.
• Mentor junior team members in the use of tools and systems.
• Strong understanding of prepress production, manufacturing equipment, processes, and capabilities.
• Proficiency in packaging software including AutoCAD, Quark Express, Freehand, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Responsibilities

• Assesses information from customer, Sales, and Project Manager and translates into creative structural design solutions.
• Researches existing products, ideas, and patents from all media.
• Obtains approval of concept by submitting ideas to team for approval and critique.
• Designs and produces visual communication in various formats and materials, including structural prototypes of packaging and three-dimensional drawings.
• Prepares finished digital art by color and high-resolution images and files.
• Manages information, prototypes, and files through design to production and placement.
• Coordinates with outside agencies, printers and art services.
• Enhances existing concepts or designs.
• Works on patenting new products and patent searches.
