Job summary

RRD is seeking a packaging designer to contribute to the design phase of projects, translating customer objectives into visually compelling packaging and copy layouts. You will work from concept through production, creating prototypes, three‑dimensional drawings, and high‑resolution digital assets.

The role requires a Bachelor degree in a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD, QuarkXPress, Freehand, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in discipline related to role with 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to solve moderately complex problems using analysis and experience.
• Strong communication with internal/external customers and coworkers.
• Proficient with Windows/MAC and design software used in packaging.

Responsibilities

• Assesses customer, Sales, and PM inputs to craft creative structural design solutions considering cost and manufacturability.
• Obtains concept approval by presenting ideas to the team for critique.
• Designs and produces visual packaging concepts, prototypes, drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Prepares finished digital art with color and high‑resolution files.
• Manages prototypes and files through design to production and placement.
• Coordinates with outside agencies and printers to complete projects.
• Enhances existing designs and participates in special projects.
