Job summary

Timken is hiring a Packaging / Shipping Supervisor for the Fulton Plant to oversee daily logistics operations, coordinating receiving, warehousing, and shipping while driving KPI performance across safety, quality, cost, and delivery. The role includes equipment planning, layout optimization, and cost-reduction initiatives to support customer demand.

You will lead a multi-zone team, implement lean practices, and collaborate with EHS, Traffic, and other departments to ensure accurate shipments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field with 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, shipping, packaging, or distribution operations.
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a supervisor or team lead in shipping, packaging, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/SAP systems and Microsoft Office applications to support shipping documentation, inventory transactions, reporting, and operational performance metrics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Execute KPIs related to logistics safety, quality, cost, delivery, productivity, and morale.
  • Maintain supply chain procedures to achieve KPIs at multiple locations.
  • Manage demand against warehouse inventory to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Identify root causes for inventory inaccuracies and implement improvements.
  • Ensure inventory locations are organized and properly identified.
  • Coordinate local parts shipping, tracking, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Traffic to resolve roadblocks for timely shipping.
  • Lead safety initiatives and promote a safe work environment.
  • Work with EHS to ensure environmental storage standards.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through lean practices and engage staff in continuous improvement.
  • Support Talent Management processes and develop leadership pipelines.

Position Summary

The Packaging / Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the daily coordination of personnel and processes related to receiving, warehousing, and shipping within the Fulton Plant. This role provides supervision to associates in a multi-zoned, potential for multi-shift department to meet customer demand. The Packaging / Shipping Supervisor drives improvement in the areas of productivity, safety, quality, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency of deliveries. This position is also responsible for new equipment planning/floor layout/cost reduction initiatives.

  • Responsible for the execution against KPIs related to logistics (safety, quality, cost, delivery, productivity, and morale)
  • Maintain corporate supply chain procedures and processes to ensure achievement of related KPIs at multiple locations.
  • Manages demand against warehouse inventory to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Investigates and identifies root causes for inventory inaccuracies, reconciles inventory balances, and identifies process improvements to reduce or eliminate specific inventory discrepancies. Works within team and across team to implement change.
  • Ensures inventory storage locations are organized and items are properly marked and identified
  • Responsible for local parts shipping, tracking and coordination.
  • Work with Traffic department to ensure any roadblocks are resolved to ensure timely and accurate shipping of finished goods to support the sales targets of the plant.
  • Drive safety initiatives and strategy for area of responsibility and implement improvement plans. Ensure ongoing operator safety and a safe work environment by promptly addressing safety hazards, minimizing workplace accidents, and actively involving associates in the continuous improvement of safety. Ensures staff follows and practices all established safety rules
  • Work with EHS to ensure storage is within environmental standards.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through lean practices such as inventory reduction, flow day reduction, cost of shipping and warehousing. Demonstrate the responsibilities of a lean leader and drive a lean culture in the facility. Ensure associates are engaged and are participating in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Facilitate the Talent Management Process to create high-performing teams and a pipeline of ready leadership. Lead goal setting, coaching, counseling, mentoring, and career development processes with associates. Identify training and needs and create a training strategy to meet customer expectations.
  • Organizing warehouse, label goods, plot routes, and process shipments.
  • Updating and evaluating metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.
Required Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, shipping, packaging, or distribution operations. Or;
    • High school diploma with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a supervisor or team lead experience in a shipping, packaging, warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/SAP systems and Microsoft Office applications to support shipping documentation, inventory transactions, reporting, and operational performance metrics.
    Strong understanding of packaging standards, shipment accuracy requirements, and customer delivery expectations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)
Preferred
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a manufacturing environment with direct responsibility for shipping and packaging operations, including carrier coordination, dock scheduling, inventory accuracy, shipment execution, and customer service performance.
  • Experience coordinating outbound shipments, carrier relationships, dock scheduling, and transportation logistics in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma principles focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Experience leading safety initiatives, employee training, and continuous improvement activities within a manufacturing or distribution setting.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Production, Customer Service, Planning, Quality, and Transportation providers to support on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

The yearly compensation for this role is$67,320 - $83,160,is commensurate on experience and education, and couldpaymore or less than the posted range. This full-time position is eligible to participate in the company’s short-term incentive program, paid time off plan, 401k, and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
