Job summary

McCormick & Company, a global leader in flavors, is seeking a Scientist II, R&D Packaging Development at our Hunt Valley, MD headquarters. You will shape sustainable, consumer‑preferred packaging for North America and contribute to brands like Frank’s RedHot, Cholula, French’s and Stubb’s.

You’ll lead cross‑functional projects, evaluate materials, and drive packaging innovations from concept to commercialization while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Design, Packaging Technology, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years packaging development and project management experience in a CPG environment.
• Experience with plastic injection molding, injection blow molding, glass, laminated structures, and paper-based materials.
• Creative problem solving with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
• Analytical skills to evaluate complex situations and drive business results.

Responsibilities

• Interact across multiple levels and functions, manage project planning activities, and provide technical guidance.
• Recommend package design, development, material selection, and commercialization activities.
• Support proactive packaging innovations that improve sustainability and meet consumer needs.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently with deliverables and milestones.
• Independently plan and prioritize work to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Apply established standards, controls, and processes.
