Job summary

Universal Avionics is seeking a Manager, Packaging and Optics to lead the Packaging and Optics team within Hardware Development. You’ll oversee mechanical engineering, PCB design, and optical systems, guiding projects from concept through qualification while developing engineers.

This role blends hands-on technical direction with people leadership, requiring collaboration across Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, and Program Management to deliver reliable avionics hardware.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of electromechanical design experience.
• Strong experience with thermal and structural finite element analysis.
• Proficiency with PTC Creo 3D CAD and familiarity with PCB assemblies.
• Experience leading and developing engineers in aerospace environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and support a team of mechanical engineers and PCB designers with clear goals and growth opportunities.
• Align staffing, budgets, and resources with program objectives.
• Provide technical leadership from requirements through design, prototype, testing, and qualification.
• Guide mechanical and opto‑mechanical designs for aerospace applications.
