Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) in Hunt Valley, MD is hiring a packaging technician to weigh, fill, label and inspect materials in a GMP environment. You will set up equipment, maintain records, and communicate status across shifts to ensure on-time production.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, willingness to work 2nd shift (4pm–2am, Mon–Thu) and overtime as needed. BD emphasizes safety, housekeeping, and adherence to SOPs daily.

Responsibilities

• Package materials per SMP/SOP and document process.

• Move required materials using handling equipment.
• Set up, operate and clean production equipment including scales and filling lines.
• Maintain accurate production records and batch history.
• Identify the need for minor equipment repairs.
• Follow all GMP, safety and housekeeping policies.

Job Description Responsibilities:

• Responsible for packaging materials in accordance with standard manufacturing procedures (SMP) and standard operating procedures (SOP) including equipment set-up, equipment clean-up and documentation of such process
• Filling, assembling, labeling and inspecting under general supervision
• May be responsible for maintaining accuracy in weighing materials per the correct SMP and SOP weight tolerances
• Must be a good communicator within the manufacturing team to effectively define status of product or process between shifts either orally or with the use of written status reports
• May be responsible for moving required materials from defined storage or staging areas to workspace using material handling equipment
• Demonstrates ability to set-up, operate and clean production equipment including weighing scales, hand-filling equipment, Integrated Fill Lines (IFL), bagging equipment and shrink-wrap equipment
• Maintains accurate production records, which include operation/cleaning logs, batch history records, label reconciliation, work order information and other pertinent data
• Identifies the need for minor equipment repairs
• Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures
• Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures
• Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements
• Performs other duties as required
