Job summary

BD in Sparks, MD is seeking a detail-oriented manufacturing associate to support packaging, labeling and inspection in a GMP environment. You will document batch histories, weigh materials to SOP tolerances, and operate fill lines with supervision as needed.

Responsibilities emphasize accurate record-keeping, adherence to GMP and safety policies, and effective communication across shifts. This on-site role requires adaptability, forklift may be needed, and overtime is possible to meet production

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with 3 years manufacturing/warehouse experience.
  • FDA/relevant regulated environment experience (minimum 1 year).

Responsibilities

  • Package materials per SMP and SOP with setup, cleanup and documentation.
  • Fill, assemble, label, and inspect with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain weighing accuracy per SMP/SOP tolerances.
  • Communicate product/process status effectively across shifts.
  • Move materials using appropriate handling equipment.
  • Set up, operate and clean production equipment (IFL, scales, bagging, shrink-wrap).

Job Description
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for packaging materials in accordance with standard manufacturing procedures (SMP) and standard operating procedures (SOP) including equipment set-up, equipment clean-up and documentation of such process

  • Filling, assembling, labeling and inspecting under little/no supervision

  • May be responsible for maintaining accuracy in weighing materials per the correct SMP and SOP weight tolerances

  • Must be a good communicator within the manufacturing team to effectively define status of product or process between shifts either orally or with the use of written status reports

  • May be responsible for moving required materials from defined storage or staging areas to workspace using material handling equipment

  • Demonstrates ability to set-up, operate and clean production equipment including weighing scales, hand-filling equipment, Integrated Fill Lines (IFL), bagging equipment and shrink-wrap equipment

  • Maintains accurate production records, which include operation/cleaning logs, batch history records, label reconciliation, work order information and other pertinent data

  • Uses independent judgment in troubleshooting and problem solving under little/no supervision

  • Conduct minor equipment repairs and identify and resolve equipment problems

  • Provides support to lead and/or supervisor when necessary

  • May provide training support for on-boarding and/or new procedures

  • May provide support on special projects

  • Demonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and procedures

  • Must follow all BD safety policies and procedures

  • Must be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirements

Required Qualifications
  • High School degree with 3 years manufacturing or warehouse experience including minimum 1 year FDA/relevant regulated environment

Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to work on assignments that are manual and routine in nature with the skill to recognize any deviations from specification

  • Must be able to maintain neat, accurate and complete records and logs, both manually and/or electronically on a personal computer

  • Must be able to effectively manage frequent assignment changes

  • Must be proficient in the ability to read, write, analyze/evaluate charts, follow simple diagrams and perform basic arithmetic

  • Basic proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of Windows environment is required

  • Use independent judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve

  • Must be able to work in a repetitive work environment and be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Forklift license may be required for this position
