Packaging Operator
1st Shift 5am - 2pm plus Overtime
$17.00-19.50/hour
Job Description:
The production line operator, Mixer, and Roaster is responsible for all aspects of safe and efficient operations of a food manufacturing line.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere to company human safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to company food safety, quality and regulatory practices and procedures.
- Set up and operate roasting machine(s) to ensure finished product meets all Customer/Regulatory requirements.
- Clean and sanitize equipment during changeovers from one product to another.
- Inspect roasting equipment prior to line start-up and changeovers.
- Ownership of roasting line results.
- Maintain accurate and legible records/documentation.
- Oversee efficient and safe operation of all equipment and personnel on line.
- Communicate with all coworkers and maintenance staff to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Assist other departments as needed and perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Preferably at least 1 year of packaging machine operator experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing specifications and quality standards.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMPs, Allergens, and Personal Protective Equipment.
Abilities:
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes in partnership with maintenance.
- Ability to determine root cause and diligently apply corrective actions.
- Ability to read and write English; bilingual skills are a plus.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced manufacturing environment that may include weekend work and overtime, exposure to various temperatures, working on concrete floors, and noise levels exceeding 85 dB.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Perform repetitive tasks.
- Lift up to 75 lbs periodically.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and climb ladders and stairs.
- Push/pull up to 2,200 lbs of raw materials on a pallet with a pallet jack.
- Reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying sizes and weights up to 50 lbs.
- Slide barrels of up to 250 lbs of ingredients from pallets to conveyors.
- Potential exposure to allergens: Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Wheat, Soy, Milk, and Eggs.
- Ability to wear PPE such as hearing protection, face shields, safety glasses, aprons, gloves, etc.
