Responsibilities

1. Perform startup checks at the beginning of each shift.
2. Set up machines before each shift and conduct testing to ensure optimal operation, logging results electronically against efficiency targets.
3. Perform routine tests (seal, visual, weight) to ensure product quality.
4. Conduct front-line preventative maintenance.
5. Monitor and adjust/calibrate machines (packaging machines, scales).
6. Ensure all packaged products meet quality standards per work instructions.
7. Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
8. Review production schedules and ensure correct setup and material availability.
9. Properly count, weigh, and label all materials.
10. Maintain proper documentation for partial pallets, bags, and containers.
11. Verify materials and packaging meet customer and company specifications.
12. Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the work area, including machine cleaning before and after shifts.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
3. At least 1 year of packaging operator experience.
4. Ability to stand for long periods and climb stairs.
5. Mechanical problem-solving skills.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and understanding of manufacturing processes.
7. Experience with GMPs, HACCP, and Food Safety preferred.
8. Experience with Vertical Form and Fill (Hayssen, Matrix, TNA) and Pouch machines is highly preferred.
