The Packaging Operator I is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of packaging equipment in the Bag/Cup product division. In the event of absence, the position will be filled by adequately trained personnel.
Shift: 2nd Shift - 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate packaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain processing flow to meet operational efficiency targets.
- Assist in training departmental staff as needed.
- Track and communicate departmental KPIs related to Safety, Quality, Productivity, waste, yield, and Equipment performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, working closely with Maintenance.
- Conduct shift inspections and preventive maintenance.
- Properly start up and shut down equipment.
- Communicate within the department for efficient operations.
- Learn and operate multiple packaging processes and equipment.
- Verify labels and perform line clearance as needed.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and adhere to GMPs, SOPs, and Food Safety policies.
- Report suspicious packages, activities, and individuals.
- If monitoring CCPs, be trained in HACCP and follow the plan.
Positional Accountabilities
- Adhere to all recipe designs and GMPs without deviations.
- Operate, adjust, breakdown, and reassemble packaging equipment.
- Minimize downtime and address inefficiencies proactively.
- Update supervisors on process efficiencies and issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory control and manage line waste.

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent; 3-6 months related experience preferred.
- Effective communication skills in English.
- Basic math skills and computer literacy.
- Valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Regularly required to stand, handle, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds. Work involves exposure to moving parts, cold environments, and chemicals.
