Job summary

Steelcase is seeking a Spring 2027 Packaging Engineering co-op for a 6-month period (January–June). You will work with seasoned professionals to develop packaging solutions in furniture manufacturing, gaining transferable skills for future roles.

The team emphasizes mentorship, training, and practical project leadership within a global packaging context. You will engage in testing, vendor interactions, BOM updates, cost-saving projects, and data-driven reporting while balancing multiple

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in a nationally accredited program.
• Actively enrolled in degree program during internship.
• Packaging or Applied Engineering Sciences with Packaging concentration.
• Preferred: Junior or rising Senior (December 2027 graduation or later)

Responsibilities

• Prepare furniture for ship testing and work with test lab to review results.
• Assist in issues that arise to help run the business.
• Connect with suppliers and obtain packaging samples in plants.
• Design packaging projects.
• Work on cost savings initiatives.
• Investigate quality issues.
• Analyze packaging materials and compare options.
• Update department spreadsheets to report progress and savings.
• Calculate volumes (cube) manually and with CAPE and SAP.
• Issue packaging BOM and specification changes.
