Job summary

Rheem North America is seeking a Packaging Engineer to drive packaging development and testing for water heater products, leading cost reductions and supply chain improvements. You will collaborate with development teams on transit‑friendly packaging and TSC considerations.

The position is based in Montgomery, AL or Fort Smith, AR with a hybrid schedule: in office Monday–Thursday and remote Friday, relocation assistance available, and up to 10% travel for supplier and site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with ASTM, ISTA, ISO and other packaging qualification standards.
• Experience in developing packaging test protocols representing a total supply chain.
• Certification in CPP or CPLP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Development of packaging for new products, cost reductions and other projects.
• Define and maintain packaging test protocols (PTP) in the qualification of packaging designs.
• Guide development teams in assessment and design of products for TSC loads and handling.
• Engage teams in cost-effective packaging delivery planning.
• Coordinate design of packaging concepts, prototypes, and testing through suppliers and internal resources.
• Maintain portfolio of packaging projects and metrics for deployment.
• Investigate and troubleshoot packaging problems and opportunities.
• Evaluate cost reductions opportunities and sustainability measures.
• Stay current with packaging technologies and emerging opportunities.
• Conduct cross‑functional reviews to measure product delivery effectiveness.
