Job summary

Rheem Manufacturing Company seeks a Packaging Engineer to drive packaging development and testing for water heater products, supporting cost reductions and supply chain effectiveness. The role is part of the Rheem North America Division, located in Montgomery, AL or Fort Smith, AR, with a hybrid schedule (Mon–Thu in office, Fri remote) and 10% travel.

Relocation assistance is available. Responsibilities include packaging design and testing coordination, portfolio management, and collaboration

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or Mechanical Engineering (required).
Knowledge of packaging materials, applications and equipment.
Experience with packaging standards (ASTM, ISTA, ISO).
Experience creating packaging test protocols for total supply chain.

Responsibilities

Develop packaging for new products and cost reductions.
Define and maintain packaging test protocols (PTP).
Guide design of products for TSC loads and handling.
Coordinate packaging concepts, prototypes, and testing with suppliers and internal teams.
Maintain portfolio of packaging projects and success metrics.
Investigate packaging issues and implement corrective actions.
Evaluate cost reductions and sustainability opportunities.
Stay updated on packaging technologies and opportunities.
Conduct cross‑functional reviews to measure delivery effectiveness.
