Job summary

Greenheck Group is seeking a Packaging Engineer Co-op for January–August 2027 in a hands-on, interdisciplinary environment. You will support packaging design, create drawings, and coordinate prototype testing with suppliers to improve cost, performance, and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a related bachelor’s degree program (Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Science or similar degree with technical aptitude).
• On track to graduate in the next 3 semesters.
• Hands-on learning in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
• Experience with basic hand tools and prototypes.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of packaging solutions (crates, skids, corrugated, foam).
• Create/update packaging drawings, specs, and documentation.
• Coordinate prototypes and testing with suppliers per ISTA/ASTM standards.
• Research materials and industry trends for cost, performance, sustainability improvements.
• Analyze freight damage data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Standardize packaging designs across product lines to reduce material use.
• Assist in cost/sustainability/pack-out improvements and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Quality, Purchasing, and suppliers.
