Job summary

Ghafari Associates seeks a packaging engineer to oversee prototype-to-production packaging, ensuring protection, cost-effectiveness, and ergonomic handling for automotive/high-volume programs.

The role requires collaboration with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to resolve cost, timing, and quality issues. On-site duties include client location work in Warsaw, Indiana as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years in packaging engineering, logistics, or manufacturing engineering.
• 2+ years as expendable packaging estimator or buyer required.
• Hands-on experience launching shipping packaging for automotive/high-volume programs.
• Experience with returnable and expendable packaging and supplier coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead packaging development from prototype to production readiness.
• Review part characteristics and supplier locations to define packaging solutions.
• Support RFQ packages, quotes, and supplier selection with Purchasing.
• Coordinate prototype builds, design reviews, and validation testing.
• Ensure packaging supports safe handling, labeling, and storage efficiency.
• Track risks, supplier deliverables, and production timing.
