Job summary

Ghafari Associates, LLC is seeking a Packaging Engineer to oversee packaging from prototype design through RFQ, supplier selection, procurement and production readiness at a client site in Warsaw, Indiana.

You will work with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Engineering to define packaging solutions, validate concepts, and drive cost and density improvements while ensuring safety, labeling and handling requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or related field and 3+ years in packaging engineering or manufacturing.
• 2+ years as expendable packaging estimator or buyer.
• Hands-on experience developing shipping packaging for automotive/high-volume programs.
• Experience with launch timing, prototype builds, and SOP readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead shipping packaging development from prototype to production readiness.
• Review part characteristics, handling requirements, supplier locations, and costs.
• Support RFQ packages, quotes, supplier selection, PO timing, and packaging release.
• Coordinate prototype builds, design reviews, fit checks, and validation testing.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and suppliers.
• Ensure packaging supports safe handling, labeling, damage prevention, and storage.
