Job summary

TechStar Group is seeking a packaging engineering lead to drive end-to-end packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms. You will work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, and Operations to define requirements and deliver robust packaging solutions.

You will collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics to optimize part delivery while maintaining quality and manufacturability, and oversee design direction, CAD drawings, and GD&T validation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with evidence of exceptional ability.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.
  • Strong knowledge in a wide range of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.) and standards (ASTM, Mil-Spec).
  • Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation; ability to manage multiple priorities with quality results.
  • Proficient at-risk management and communication; team player with process improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms.
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, NPI, and Operations to gather packaging requirements.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to ensure efficient delivery of parts without compromising quality.
  • Provide design direction and development plans for protective packaging containers, dunnage, and racks for domestic and international shipments.
  • Apply CAD and technical drawing practices, including datum structure, GD&T, and tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Monitor KPIs and collaborate with Packaging Design Engineers to improve packaging standards.
  • Drive expendable to returnable projects and assist in vendor selection and management.

Job Summary:
What You’ll Do
  • Lead end-to-end engineered packaging projects for Vehicle and Energy platforms
  • Interface with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, and Operations partners to gather and develop packaging requirements
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Logistics to drive projects to enable the most efficient delivery of parts possible without sacrificing part quality or manufacturability
  • Provide design direction and development plans of protective packaging containers, dunnage and unique shipping racks – domestic and international
  • Apply industrial design techniques of CAD, technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
  • Monitor KPI’s and work with Packaging Design Engineers to develop world-class packaging standards and continue to improve upon them
  • Drive expendable to returnable projects and participate in sustainability initiatives; Manage project budgets, risks, and change management; Assist in vendor selection and vendor management
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience with evidence of exceptional ability
  • Working knowledge of CAD, and technical drawings, including datum structure, GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes including machining, welding, injection molding etc.
  • Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials (aluminum, steel, composites, foam, etc.); Experience with designing to standards such as ASTM, Mil-Spec, etc.
  • Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation; Capable of managing multiple priorities at once without sacrificing quality of results
  • Proficient at-risk management and communication; Team player with strong process and continuous improvement mindset
