Job summary

Mettler-Toledo, Inc. is seeking a packaging clerk to package products for shipment and manage inventory storage. You will prepare small orders, organize packing materials, and follow standard procedures to ensure efficient shipping.

The role requires a high school diploma, SAP experience preferred, and the ability to operate basic packing tools and a pallet jack. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean work area in line with 5S guidelines, reporting equipment issues, and supporting CI

Responsibilities

  • Package products for shipment or storage, and manage storage/retrieval of inventory.
  • Prepare orders of low complexity and stage materials for shipment.
  • Collect and organize packaging materials (boxes, tape, wrap, labels).
  • Perform quality checks and use the disturbance tracker when needed.
  • Follow established packing procedures to ensure accurate shipment.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas per 5S guidelines.
  • Report equipment defects to leadership and assist with CI opportunities.
  • Operate manual pallet jack and RF device for processing orders.

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Role/Purpose: A packaging clerk is responsible for packaging products for shipment or storage and managing the storage and retrieval of inventory items. This role also includes organizing and preparing packaging materials, which involves tasks such as assembling bases and crates. What you will do:

  • Assist in preparing orders of low complexity, such as small boxes and crates. Perform Quality at The Source when staging materials.
  • Collect and organize packaging materials, such as boxes, tape, protective wraps, wooden materials, and labels.
  • Perform Quality at The Source when preparing materials for shipment.
  • Utilize the disturbance tracker.
  • Assist in following established packing procedures to support the accurate and efficient shipment of products.
  • Ensure the areas are clean, neat, and organized at all times in accordance with our 5s guidelines.
  • Identify any equipment issues and report defects or inconsistencies to the leadership team for further action.
  • Perform basic documentation tasks such as labeling, delivery notes and dimension sheets.
  • Support inventory accuracy through the use of the established processes.
  • Utilize Kaizen Newspaper to identify continuous improvement (CI) opportunities.
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack.
  • Use Radio Frequency device to process and fulfill orders.
  • Cycle Counting
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior ERP experience SAP Preferred.
  • Safety aware.
  • Ability to operate basic packaging tools (e.g., tape guns, shrink wrap).
  • Good time management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to sit, stand, squat, bend, push, pull for long periods throughout the day and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment.
  • Ability to consistently meet expectations.
  • Ability to work overtime.
