Responsibilities

  • Transport cylinders, micro-bulk and bulk product to customers safely and on time.
  • Adhere to posted speed limits and DOT/company safety policies.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections; keep vehicle clean.
  • Complete driver logs/trip reports daily.
  • Record transactions on delivery tickets and trip reports accurately.
  • Communicate with supervisor about safety and customer matters.
  • Operate forklift for loading/unloading as required.
  • Model safety and loss-prevention practices and report unsafe conditions.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery and minimize risks.
  • Participate in local safety committee as assigned.
  • Fill cryogenic dewars and provide first-line technical support.
  • Process orders through ACM TIMs delivery app; submit daily paperwork.
  • Understand Volume 40 topics and FDA compliance for medical product delivery.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Job description

Overview

This position is responsible for the transportation of materials in a safe and timely manner by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and road safety. The professional driver will drive to and from designated locations, verify loads to shipping papers, maintain records of duty status according to state and federal regulations, and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Must present a professional business image and possess a valid commercial Class A Driver's License, Hazmat, Air Brake endorsements, and Medical card; packaged gas straight truck driver credentials may include pumper, micro-bulk. Class A license and tanker endorsements are preferred. This position reports to the Site Manager or Operations Manager.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Transport cylinders, micro-bulk and bulk product to internal and external customers in a timely and safety-conscious manner.
  • Stay within posted speed limits and comply with all DOT and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle; maintain the vehicle in a clean and proper condition.
  • Legibly complete driver logs/trip reports daily.
  • Record cylinders/hard-goods transactions accurately on customer delivery tickets and trip reports.
  • Maintain good communication with supervisor and management, especially on safety and customer matters.
  • Operate or drive forklift for loading and unloading of product as required.
  • Model safety and loss-prevention practices; report accidents, near misses, unsafe acts or conditions and follow safety rules.
  • Use time-management tools to meet deadlines; coordinate with stakeholders to identify issues, minimize risks, ensure safety and on-time delivery.
  • Participate as an active member of the local safety committee when assigned.
  • Fill cryogenic liquid dewars and provide first-line technical support as needed.
  • Process all orders through ACM system (TIMs delivery app); turn in daily paperwork (DTR, delivery invoices, receipts, DVIR, manual tickets, etc.).
  • Understand Volume 40 topics and FDA compliance requirements for medical product delivery; complete required forms and records for each delivery.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must possess a valid commercial Class A Driver's License, Hazmat, Air Brake Endorsements, and Medical card; tanker endorsements are preferred.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; must have previous commercial driving experience or have graduated from an accredited commercial driving school.
  • Minimum of one year road experience preferred with no moving violations in the past three years.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age with an excellent driving record.
  • Physical ability to push carts with heavy loads and lift 50+ lb containers.
  • Ability to read and write English, perform simple calculations, and manage receipts, maps, road signs, and hours-of-service documentation.
  • Ability to perform basic administrative tasks and problem solve; flexible with work hours.
  • Willingness to work in diverse weather and working conditions; ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, and reach as needed.
  • Preferred experience in the cylinder gas or specialty chemical industry.
Compensation

Pay rate: $34.50 per hour DOE.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Frequent stationary position; frequent movement/traversal; frequent sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
  • Frequent reaching, handling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions; frequent coordination tasks.
  • Environment may include diverse weather and conditions consistent with field duties.
