Job summary

The role seeks a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead mechanical systems across infrastructure projects from a Paarl, Western Cape office. You will plan, schedule, budget, and oversee installation and commissioning while coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a project engineering or project management role.
• Proven experience in managing mechanical projects in construction, industrial plants, or infrastructure.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and software (MS Project).
• Excellent planning, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage mechanical engineering aspects of assigned projects from inception to completion.
• Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for mechanical scopes of work.
• Coordinate and supervise mechanical design activities, ensuring technical integrity and compliance.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Oversee procurement processes for mechanical equipment and materials.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Manage on-site installation and commissioning activities for mechanical systems.
• Prepare regular project reports and documentation.
• Conduct site inspections and quality control checks.
