Long Island University (LIU) Brooklyn invites applicants for the combined role of Program Director and Assistant/Associate Professor of Physician Assistant Studies in the School of Health Professions. This full-time, nine-month faculty position includes a twelve-month administrative role with didactic and clinical teaching, student advisement, remediation, and ARC-PA compliance.

Qualifications

  • NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with current or emeritus NCCPA certification.
  • Current New York State PA license or eligibility for licensure in New York State.
  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Three years full-time higher education experience.
  • Teaching experience is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach didactic and clinical year students: both lectures, laboratories and small group learning.
  • Provide remediation instruction to ensure student success.
  • Review and update PA syllabi and curricula.
  • Work collaboratively with PA and university faculty/administration.
  • Advise students in both didactic and clinical years.
  • Participate in clinical site visits as needed.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
  • Promote the PA Program and PA profession to potential students and community.
  • Participate in the review, interviewing and selection of applicants for admission to the PA Program.
  • Participate in ARC-PA program assessment, data collection and analysis and preparation of self-study reports.
  • Work collaboratively with members of the PA and university faculty/administration.
  • Serve on Departmental, School of Health Professions and University committees.
