Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health's Jersey Shore University Medical Center NICU seeks an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant to provide patient-centered, coordinated neonatal care in a Level III NICU.

The role requires neonatal resuscitation skills, collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, and eligibility for NNP certification or completion of a NICU fellowship; PA candidates should have NICU fellowship training.

Qualifications

• Strong neonatal resuscitation and ventilation management skills.
• Ability to collaborate across a multidisciplinary NICU team.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement care for critically ill newborns in a Level III NICU.
• Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff to optimize outcomes.
• Utilize consultants and perform essential NICU procedures as needed.

Job description

The NICU Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APN works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. Proficient in newborn resuscitation, intubation and stabilization, umbilical lines, PIV, arterial blood draw, ventilation management, needle aspiration and chest tubes, spinal tap, interpretation of x-rays, appropriate and efficient use of consultants
NNP required or NNP eligible, PA should have completed a NICU fellowship. K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital is a Level III NICU at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
