Job summary

Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC seeks a Physician Assistant - Inpatient Urology to support the surgical team. You will assist the primary surgeon, perform preoperative histories and physicals, and draft post-op notes and orders in the PACU.

Knowledge of sterile technique, diagnostic testing interpretation, and postoperative care is essential. Active DC license, NCCPA, CDS/DEA, PECOS enrollment, plus BLS and ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of AMA approved Physician Assistant Master’s Degree Program.
• Active DC License & NCCPA Certification.
• Active CDS/DEA licenses.
• Active PECOS enrollment.
• BLS Health Care Provider CPR and ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to the primary surgeon during surgical procedures.
• Perform preoperative histories and physicals on patients for each attending physician.
• Write post-op notes and orders for each patient in the PACU.
• May respond to calls from nursing units regarding clinical management of the surgical patients.
• Perform special clinical procedures under the direction of the attending physician.

Sibley Memorial Hospital is a non-profit, full service 318 bed acute care community hospital serving the Washington, DC area. Sibley offers medical, surgical, intensive care, obstetric, oncology, orthopaedic, skilled nursing inpatient services, and a state-of-the-art 24-hour Emergency Department. Sibley's campus, with its new patient tower, is also home to the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins National Proton Therapy Center, Grand Oaks -- an assisted living residence -- a medical building with physician offices and an ambulatory surgery and imaging center.

The Physician Assistant - Inpatient Urology provides direct assistance to the primary surgeon during surgical procedures. Knowledge of and ability to maintain sterile technique required. Knowledgeable about diagnostic ancillary testing and interpretation of test results, medications and current treatment regimes required. The Physician Assistant performs preoperative histories and physicals on patients for each attending physician. Writes post-op notes and orders for each patient in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). May respond to calls from nursing units regarding clinical management of the surgical patients, assessing, diagnosing and writing orders on behalf of the attending physician. Performs special clinical procedures under the direction of the attending physician.

Qualifications

• Active PECOS enrollment
• BLS Health Care Provider CPR and ACLS certification required

Salary Range: Minimum 63.31/hour - Maximum 98.31/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
