The School City of Hammond is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Part-Time Instructional Aide to support classroom teachers and enhance learning for students in grades K–6.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children or in a school setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• Ability to follow instructional plans and support students with patience and professionalism.
• Any additional responsibilities given by building principal.

Responsibilities

• Provide small-group and one-on-one instructional assistance under teacher direction.
• Support students with reading, writing, math, and other classroom tasks.
• Collect progress monitoring data and assist with assessment preparation.
• Reinforce behavioral expectations and help maintain a supportive classroom environment.
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and assist with classroom routines.
• Confers with teachers about instructional materials, student needs, and progress, and reports observations.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
• Oversees students during non-instructional times like lunch, recess, or field trips.
