Job summary

Actalent in Moss Point, MS is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 5–10 years of experience in P&ID development to create, update, and maintain piping and instrumentation diagrams for industrial processes. You will collaborate with mechanical and process engineers, ensure compliance with safety standards, and produce as-built P&IDs after site walkdowns.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and strong attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
5-10 years of mechanical design experience with P&ID development for industrial processes required.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and P&ID software required.
Deep understanding of industrial processes, equipment, and instrumentation.
Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to P&ID development.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; effective communication required.

Responsibilities

Create and update P&IDs using AutoCAD to accurately represent piping, equipment and instrumentation.
Collaborate with mechanical, process engineers and stakeholders to meet design specifications.
Produce detailed P&ID documentation including symbols, instrument details, piping layouts and control loops.
Ensure P&IDs comply with safety regulations and project requirements.
Assist in selecting piping materials, valves, instruments and components per design needs.
Manage changes to P&IDs, document revisions, and inform stakeholders of updates.
