Job summary

Southern Company Services seeks a Mechanical Designer II / P&ID Developer to create, update, and maintain P&IDs for industrial process systems at Moss Point, MS. Candidates will rely on AutoCAD with field walkdowns to ensure drawing accuracy and alignment with requirements.

The role requires 5–10 years of mechanical design experience, strong piping/instrumentation knowledge, and collaboration with engineers to deliver precise, compliant drawings for projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of mechanical design experience.
• 5+ years of full-time AutoCAD experience as a Mechanical Designer.
• Experience with P&ID development and/or modifications.
• Strong understanding of industrial piping, equipment, instrumentation, and process systems.
• Experience creating and maintaining engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Attention to detail and drawing accuracy.
• Ability to work onsite and perform field walkdowns as required.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise, and maintain P&IDs using AutoCAD.
• Develop drawings representing piping systems, equipment, instrumentation, control loops, and process flow.
• Collaborate with mechanical and process engineers to understand design requirements.
• Incorporate equipment symbols, instrument details, piping layouts, control loops, and asset naming/numbering.
• Review P&IDs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Maintain drawing revisions and support change-management processes.
• Develop and update as-built P&IDs after construction or modifications.
• Perform field walkdowns to verify conditions and validate drawing information.
