Job summary

Novacore is looking for an experienced P&C Underwriter to join our organization, supporting 1 of our 20+ specialty programs. This hybrid role is based in Conshohocken, PA with potential locations in Plano, TX or Oak Brook, IL.

You will build a portfolio, lead the underwriting department, and ensure adherence to guidelines while driving strategic expansion and profitable growth across programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years property and casualty underwriting experience.
• Experience in product development, distribution channel discussions/decisions, and territory expansion.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• P&C license not required, however highly sought after and reimbursed if obtained upon hire.

Responsibilities

P&C Underwriter

Novacore is looking for an experienced P&C Underwriter to join our organization, supporting 1 of our 20+ specialty programs.

At Novacore, we’re entering an exciting new chapter. Novacore is the newly formed specialty insurance entity created from the April 2025 sale of NSM Insurance Group’s U.S. commercial division. We’re building something bold and meaningful, and every team member plays a vital role in that mission.

This role is hybrid from one of our many office locations: Conshohocken, PA Home Office; Plano, TX; Oak Brook IL.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for building a portfolio of business in alignment with a set budget expectation.
2. Provide leadership in accordance with the company's vision, mission and values while providing direct supervision, training and guidance to the underwriting department.
3. Maintain and conform to all underwriting guidelines for all company procedures, rate levels and underwriting authorities domestic and foreign.
4. Be a part of strategic discussions regarding expansion into additional states and/or territories.
5. Communicate effectively with the internal and external teams on accountability of goal setting and strategic sales initiatives. Generate a profitable portfolio with a focus on underwriting discipline and annual monthly/yearly premium goals.
6. Protect the core best practices to ensure alignment and execution.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years property and casualty underwriting experience is required with an emphasis on binding authority and brokerage underwriting.
• Experience in product development, distribution channel discussions/decisions, and territory expansion strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of additional property and casualty products desired.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• P&C license not required, however is highly sought after, and eligible for reimbursement if obtained upon hire.
