Job summary

Protective Life is seeking an experienced P&C actuarial professional to join the Enterprise Risk Management team as a trusted advisor to P&C businesses, including APD and E&S. The role applies actuarial judgment and capital management expertise to growth, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.

The candidate will evaluate risk across underwriting, pricing, claims, reinsurance, catastrophe exposure, and capital, translating analyses into practical recommendations for senior leaders.

Qualifications

• ACAS designation and at least seven years in P&C actuarial risk management or related field.
• Direct P&C actuarial experience with underwriting, pricing, claims, reinsurance, and capital.
• Ability to translate complex analyses into clear business insights.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ERM partner for Protective’s P&C businesses including APD and E&S.
• Challenge assumptions with actuarial analyses, risk assessments, and decisions.
• Advise on growth, acquisitions, and capital implications of initiatives.
• Assess risk exposures relative to appetite, limits, tolerances, and capital framework.
• Develop risk metrics, dashboards, limits, and escalation procedures.
• Analyze profitability, adverse development, volatility, and capital impacts.
• Perform stress tests, scenario analyses, and capital assessments.
• Monitor reinsurance, risk-transfer, collateral, and counterparty exposures.
• Contribute to ORSA, regulatory reporting, and risk reviews.
• Communicate insights to senior leaders and board discussions.
