Job summary

Amazon's Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Design & Construction team seeks a Construction Manager to act as the owner's representative for built facilities and infrastructure supporting our logistics network in Tempe, AZ.

You will manage the full construction lifecycle from design review to handover, oversee budgets and schedules, coordinate with contractors, ensure safety and compliance, and drive value engineering across projects in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of proficiency with AutoCAD and/or BIM, and scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project, or similar).
• 5+ years of experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, or related construction discipline.
• 5+ years of project management spanning design through handover.
• 5+ years of experience negotiating construction, procurement, and/or labor contracts.
• Travel up to 60%; valid driver's license required for site assignments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Amazon's owner's representative and primary construction integrator across all assigned projects
• Manage multiple concurrent projects from design phase through construction completion and handover
• Conduct detailed reviews of contractor bid packages, budgets, and schedules; resolve discrepancies
• Own comprehensive budget tracking, cashflow forecasting, and cost management
• Negotiate construction, procurement, and labor contracts with developers and general contractors
• Audit contractor performance to ensure skills, competencies, and resources meet project requirements
• Coordinate with AHJ for permitting, regulatory compliance, and approvals
• Review construction documents for conformance to Amazon's design standards
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, schedule clashes, and coordination gaps across teams
• Coach project teams throughout the lifecycle
• Champion Amazon's safety programs and enforce safety-first culture
• Maintain clear communication with stakeholders
• Assess project performance through KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability
• Partner for facility turnover documentation and transition
• Identify value engineering opportunities with internal partners
• Seek sustainable, environmentally responsible solutions
