Job summary

UACL Logistics is seeking a detail-oriented Permits Clerk to support specialized transportation operations. The role involves obtaining oversize, overweight, and specialty permits across the United States and Canada, coordinating with Dispatch and Planning teams, and ensuring regulatory compliance for safe load movements.

Responsibilities include reviewing route requirements, researching restrictions, maintaining permit records, and communicating with agencies and third-party services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in transportation, logistics, dispatch, permitting, or admin support preferred.
• Knowledge of oversize/overweight permitting is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Responsibilities

• Obtain oversize, overweight, and specialty permits from state, provincial, and local agencies.
• Coordinate with Dispatch, Planning, and Operations to secure permits before movement.
• Review load dimensions, weights, axle configurations, and route requirements.
• Research route restrictions, escort requirements, curfews, and travel limitations.
• Monitor permit status and communicate updates to planners and dispatchers.
• Maintain accurate permit records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with permit conditions and transportation regulations.
• Communicate with permitting agencies and third-party permit services.
• Support route planning by identifying restrictions and obstacles.
• Assist with other operational and administrative projects.
