Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking an Overnight Outreach Coordinator to support low‑income youth and young adults in housing retention, education, employment readiness, life-skills development, and community engagement. The role focuses on stability and safety through individualized support.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention during overnight hours, collaboration with partners, and development of participant-centered plans to promote independence and well‑being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or related social services field, or equivalent experience. Master’s preferred.
• Experience working with teens or young adults in employment, foster care, housing, education, or homelessness fields.
• Ability to teach independence skills for various learning styles and to plan supportive activities.
• Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support during overnight hours and help residents develop safety plans.
• Assist with room turnovers, unit inspections, room flips, and maintaining a clean, safe living environment.
• Deliver services in education, employment/career development, housing, technology, or other fields; support participants in achieving goals.
• Build strong relationships with participants to provide quality services.
• Develop individualized, strengths-based, youth-driven service plans.
• Maintain clear case notes, service plans, progress updates, and outcomes in databases.
• Teach life skills, job readiness, or other subjects individually or in groups.
• Collaborate with YMCA staff and community partners to plan activities and access resources.
• Build relationships with funding liaisons, service providers, businesses, and educational institutions.
• Support participants in securing housing, education, employment, health, and life skills.
• May assist with program coordination or other job-focused activities.
