Job summary

Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago, IL, is seeking a Youth Care Worker for Friday and Saturday nights. You will help maintain a safe, supportive environment for youth in residential programs, build positive relationships, and support individual treatment plans.

We value compassion, reliability, and the ability to communicate clearly with youth and families. Minimum 21 years old, HS diploma or GED, and a valid Illinois driver’s license are required; lifting up to 40 pounds may be needed.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years old.
• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Ability to stay awake and alert during hours of rest for the Youth.
• At least two years of experience working with youth.
• A valid Illinois driver’s license and ability to drive a van.

Responsibilities

• Remain awake and aware of milieu.
• Log accurately and timely all bed checks and youth activities.
• Communicate timely and accurately (incident reports, family contact, logs).
• Engage with youth in daily routines and activities.
• Build a therapeutic relationship with Youth and their families.
• Develop and implement each Youth's individual Treatment Plan.
• Work with School Resources, Career Resources and After-School Program staff.
• Provide supervision, guidance, and role modeling for Youth.
• Develop and support creative interventions for Youth.
• Participate in supervision meetings and weekly Advocate meetings.
