Job summary

Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago is seeking a Youth Care Worker to provide compassionate support to youth in residential programs. You will build therapeutic relationships, implement treatment plans, and collaborate with school and after-school resources to empower youth.

The role requires de-escalation skills, CPI training, and the ability to log activities and incidents accurately. Evening/night hours and a one-year minimum experience with youth are expected; pay ranges $23–$24/hour,

Qualifications

Be at least 21 years old.
High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
At least two years of experience working with youth.
A valid Illinois driver’s license (or ability to get one upon hire).
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and physically restrain youth with proper training.

Responsibilities

Remain awake and aware of milieu.
Log accurately and timely in the program logbook.
Provide supportive supervision, guidance, and role modeling for the Youth.
Develop and implement each Youth’s individual Treatment Plan.
Work with School Resources, Career Resources and After-School Program co-workers to support Youth.
