Job summary

Wegmans is seeking a warehouse selector to join our distribution team in Virginia. You will accurately select products for Wegmans stores, focusing on detail, safety, and teamwork to ensure efficient shipments.

Overnight shifts consist of four 10-hour workdays, with opportunities to work in a cold environment and lift items up to 50 pounds. Prior experience operating pallet jacks and forklifts is preferred, with PPE and safety training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assemble pallets safely and efficiently to maximize trailer space.
• Perform order audits for accuracy and quality.
• Maintain knowledge of quality standards/specifications for all products.
• Communicate daily quality issues to operations management.
• Maintain cold chain integrity for temperature-controlled loads.
• Assist with heavy lifting and work in cold environments as needed.

As a warehouse selector on our distribution team, you’ll help deliver exceptional service by accurately and efficiently selecting products for Wegmans stores, using your attention to detail and teamwork skills to ensure success.

Work schedule:

Overnight positions consist of four 10-hour shifts per week

What You’ll Do

• Ensure pallets of product are built safely and efficiently in a manner that minimizes product damage in transportation and maximizes trailer space
• Safely operate equipment necessary to perform job duties; this may include a forklift, pallet jack, and/or Vocollect
• Perform order audits to determine accuracy and quality
• Maintain knowledge of all quality standards/specifications and requirements for all products
• Inform operations management of daily quality issues using reports as well as other forms of necessary communication
• Maintain the integrity of the cold chain on loads that have temperature requirements
• May work in and have exposure to cold temperatures; lift weight of 20-25 pounds on average with maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience with operating a pallet jack, forklift, and Vocollect

Experience operating a pallet jack; Work Environment: The physical demands of this work are classified as heavy. Work includes prolonged walking and standing and frequent heavy lifting, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending and reaching, including reaching and lifting above shoulder height, in order to assemble store orders in a variety of warehouse settings in a fast paced environment. Work also involves moving containers or cases onto pallets and/or into shipping containers for distribution to the stores. The average weight range of items lifted is 20-25 pounds with maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally to frequently. May receive assistance with heavy items, if available. Upper extremity repetition is moderately high and trunk movement involves moderately high to high twisting, bending, and pivoting. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction). The work environment is indoors with ambient (60°-85°) temperatures and may involve exposure to cold (33°-55°) and/or freezing (-20°-20°) temperatures. Protective clothing is provided. Basic tools and equipment used include powered pallet jack, pallets, fork truck, pallets, shipping containers and labels, computerized picking system, and headset.
