BluePearl is expanding at Lake Norman, NC, seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician for overnight shifts. Induce and monitor anesthesia, triage emergencies, perform digital radiography, and manage patient vitals. Mentoring peers and addressing client concerns are part of the role.

Compensation ranges from $20.00 to $40.00 per hour with shift differentials for overnights; VTS credentialing can adjust compensation based on experience. We value growth and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency veterinary care is preferred.
• Ability to induce, monitor and recover anesthesia for patients.
• Competency in handling and monitoring critical patients.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and obtain vitals like temp, HR, RR, BP.
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital ranges and alert veterinarians to changes.
• Obtain and interpret vital signs and respond to changes.
• Identify at-risk patients and initiate CPR.
• Perform medical math and administer medications via routes/durations.
• Phlebotomy and IV catheter placement proficiency.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers; address client concerns with empathy.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

** Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

*This is an overnight position! We offer a competitive shift differential for all overnight shifts!*

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

The role of a Veterinary Technician at BluePearl is an exciting , fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
