Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. The role offers a starting pay of $20.00–$40.50 per hour, with compensation dependent on experience, licensure, and advancement through the CareerTrax leveling system.

We provide shift differentials for eligible night and weekend hours, plus opportunities to mentor teammates and grow skills alongside top veterinary professionals.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Veterinary Technician in emergency/critical care.
• Proficiency with anesthesia monitoring and patient vitals.
• Ability to place IV catheters and draw blood.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia for patients.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals on arrival.
• Perform radiography with proper technique.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Administer medications and manage anesthesia equipment.
• Mentor and train other staff; address client concerns.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience, licensure and advancement through CareerTrax leveling system.

• Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience**

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

• Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For Example

• Mon – Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

As An Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
