Job summary

Denver Animal Emergency, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Denver. This overnight role offers a shift differential and a starting pay range of $20.00–$40.50 per hour, depending on experience and our competency leveling system.

Responsibilities include anesthesia induction/monitoring, critical care triage, radiography, blood pressure and vital signs monitoring, and assisting with patient care

Qualifications

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and assess vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.

Job description

Denver Animal Emergency, a BluePearl Veterinary Partner, is hiring experienced Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay:

$20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

*Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience*

*This is an overnight position! We offer a competitive shift differential for all overnight shifts!*

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

For example:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.00 Shift Differential

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
